Specialty Recovered Wood Facility Opens Near Austin, TX.

AUSTIN, TX (February 8, 2010). Krantz Recovered Woods celebrates the opening of their Austin area 15,000 sq.ft. showroom, office and warehouse. The facility is located 13 miles East of I-35 on US 290 E., at 14807 US Hwy. 20 E.

Recovered woods are those 300-500+ year old salvaged or reclaimed woods that come from America's forests of the past. They offer striking beauty, quality, a slice of American history, and environmental benefits unmatched by today's lumber because no trees are cut down, making them a green choice. “These are the great woods our ancestors built with and we are very fortunate to build with them again,” says founder Jimmy Krantz.

Recently relocated from New Orleans in 2009, the opening of this facility is a new beginning for the company. The showroom offers homeowners, builders, architects, and designers a first hand view of wood products that will assist in the planning and design of their projects. Their showroom displays different reclaimed wood products in a professional setting that are, according to Krantz, “very unique and rarely found elsewhere. The virgin growth woods we're working with haven't been available in any quantity since the early 1900's. You might call this the second “Golden Age” of lumber products. We're very lucky to have this opportunity.”

Customers can see examples of wood flooring, beams, sidings, mouldings, countertops, beadboards, and dimensional lumber. Different wood species and types on display are Sinker Cypress, Sinker Longleaf Pine, Reclaimed Cypress, Reclaimed Longleaf Pine, and Reclaimed Oak. “Texans know quality and appreciate something different. We hope to bring a little bit of the old architecture, charm, and uniqueness that influenced us in New Orleans,” says Emili Segovia Krantz, co-owner and native San Antonian.

The Sinker wood products are made from incredibly beautiful 300-500+ year old virgin growth Cypress and Longleaf pine logs that are pulled up by underwater logging efforts in southern lakes and waterways. The Reclaimed wood products are made from old Cypress, Longleaf Pine, and Oak, the hidden gems that are culled out of dismantled turn-of-the-century warehouses and buildings. Samples of all are available. Visit www.KrantzRecoveredWoods.com to view the history of recovered woods and shop the wide array of products or call (512) 278-9998.
